ClipSaver — Privacy Policy
ClipSaver Privacy Policy
Last updated: 27 July 2026
ClipSaver is a browser extension that helps you save HTML5 videos from the web page you are currently viewing. Your privacy is simple with ClipSaver because everything stays on your own device.
What we collect
Nothing is sent to us or to any third party. ClipSaver makes no network requests of its own. We run no servers that receive your data, and there is no analytics, advertising or tracking code inside the extension.
What is stored on your device
ClipSaver stores two small things locally, using the browser’s storage, purely for convenience:
- A preference — whether you asked to be prompted for a save location.
- A short list of recent download file names (the file name and source URL of clips you chose to download), limited to your most recent downloads.
This information never leaves your computer. You can clear the recent-downloads list at any time using the Clear button in the extension, and removing the extension deletes it entirely.
How ClipSaver accesses web pages
ClipSaver has no standing access to any website. It can read a page only at the moment you click Scan this page, using the browser’s activeTab permission, and only to find the video elements on that page. It does not run in the background and does not monitor your browsing.
Permissions
- activeTab / scripting — read the current tab’s videos, only on your click.
- downloads — save a video you selected via the browser’s download manager.
- storage — remember your preference and recent-downloads list, on your device only.
Your responsibility
ClipSaver is a tool. Please only download videos you have the right to save, and respect the terms of service of the websites you visit and applicable copyright law.
